What exactly is the Champions Manual?​

“The Champions Manual had been a continual work in progress during my football coaching career at Franklin College. It became a fixture in the front of our TEAM playbook each season, helping to guide the thoughts, words and behaviors of each and every player and coach. It was my best way as the leader of the organization to truly get “all on the same page” and “all headed in the same direction” so that we could have the best chance for success.

The Champions Manual was developed to help young men have consistent success both on and off the football field. Turns out the lessons are effective for people from all walks of life. My experience at Franklin College was rewarding and provided me with an education to use after school. However, my time as a student athlete on the football team provided me with life lessons that I see as more valuable than even my diploma. The champions manual has many ideas that I apply as a production manager, a husband, and a father. It acts as a guide that can apply to multiple avenues of life. CTC (Control the controllables) is one I use to this day in my house with my family and at work with my supervisors. The game of football ends after 4 years, but the lessons from that manual carry with me everyday of my life.

I use Coach L’s teachings principles daily. I’m consistently reminded of the teachings he taught players in my daily life that allows me to get ahead personally and professionally. Coach L taught me so much more than schemes for offense, defense and special teams.
